William Crowhurst was born and raised in England. He immigrated to Californa as a young man. He met Clara Brusie in Sonora, they married and began teaching in Vallejo. He was very strong on moral values. Teaching them to his family as well as his students. He was so dedicated to the Prohibition of Alcohol issue that he traveled and lectured with the Women's Christian Temperance League.
